The Rotary Club of Perth welcomes new Business Members

The Rotary Club of Perth welcomes new Business Members.   This route to membership is an attractive way for businesses to actively support their local community.  The member is both the business and a nominated person from the business.  The business owner and nominated employee enjoy the usual engaging, friendly Rotary fellowship. The new member also has the opportunity to get to know perhaps otherwise unknown members of the local community, as well as building Rotary Club connections that are so worthwhile personally and professionally.

The Rotary movement is worldwide and one of the world’s leading membership and humanitarian service organisations, with 1.4 million members globally.

Members of Rotary volunteer their time to make a difference in their local communities and around the world through projects which support education, fight disease, promote peace, provide clean water and much more. The motto is “Service Above Self”.

The Rotary Club of Perth raises around £40,000 per year through its annual silent auction, golf day and charity summer fayre.  The funds raised are donated to national nominated charities and for supporting local charity requests for funding.  But it’s not just about fund-raising, there are also plenty of opportunities to be involved, on the ground, with local charities.

The Rotary Club of Perth is the largest club in the region with currently 65 members.  It meets at lunchtime, breakfast and also on occasion in the evenings.  There is a very healthy schedule of fellowship activities from competitions, various sporting activities and of course meals.

The Business Membership is quite new to the Rotary movement and is proving attractive to companies and potential members of Rotary.  Whereas traditionally members have joined the Rotary Club of Perth as an individual, under this route a company designates up to three of its employees to become members. These members are inducted, along with the company itself, to become full, participating members signing up to the values of Rotary: acting with integrity, taking action and making a difference, encouraging diversity and supporting the community.  The company can change the nominees whenever they wish as the annual membership fee is invoiced directly to the company.

If you own a business and wish to give back and support those in need in the local community this membership route facilitates you doing that.

You will receive a membership certificate for display and the Rotary Club of Perth logo can be shown on your website demonstrating your social responsibility credentials.

Here we see Amanda Frenz from Lindsays, Solicitors and Ray Faherty from Oakbank Financial Services being welcomed at their induction in March 2024.  Amanda says”

“As I am a busy, working solicitor, I might not be able to attend the weekly lunches as often as some members can.  However, I have been able to enjoy a couple of social get togethers after work which were fun and ideal for chatting over ideas and I’ve also enjoyed a few cups of coffee and chat with some of the members over these months, so there are a good variety of opportunities to join in.

What else have I been doing at Rotary?  It’s been great to help with some of the smaller community projects such as gardening at the Korean War Memorial and the litter pick near McDiarmid Park.  Many of our partners come along and lend support at these events, which is nice for us and it gets the job done more quickly!  I have also taken part in a leaflet drop for Perth Festival of the Arts, round all our local businesses, which was fun and I have been involved in some of the larger Club events such as the Classic Car Tour and the Charity Fayre.  We raised money for our chosen charities at the Fayre and we invited other charities to join us and raise funds for their good causes as well.

It’s all about doing what you can, taking part and giving back.”

The employees of our other Business members are so integrated who would know!
