Notification of Gas Network Critical Works, A926 between Rattray and Alyth

A message from SGN.

As you’re aware we’ve previously carried out repairs to our gas network in the A926 between Rattray and Alyth, however after further investigation we now need to urgently replace this section of our gas network.

The existing 600m section of our gas pipe, which supplies gas to the local community, has come to the end of its useable life. This upgrade work is critical to ensure that over 7,000 homes in the area continue to receive their gas supply. We expect our project to take six weeks to complete.

In line with Scottish Legislation (NRSWA), the road must be closed in this location to ensure everyone's safety while we carry out our work. A signed diversion route is in place for motorists via the B954, A94 and A923.

Stagecoach Service 57/57A will be impacted by this closure. We've worked closely with Perth and Kinross Council Transport Department to arrange the following replacement services:

Dundee and Perth bound services will operate between Meigle and Blairgowrie Wellmeadow via the A94 - Coupar Angus – A923. Services will not operate via Rattray, New Alyth & Alyth.

Passengers from Rattray will require to access Service 57/57A at Blairgowrie Wellmeadow.

Passengers from New Alyth & Alyth will be linked to Service 57/57A at Meigle by a shuttle bus operating a reduced timetable, shown here.

Blairgowrie Freedom Coach will operate the earlier morning commuter journeys on Mondays to Saturdays for the six-week period, while Stagecoach will undertake off peak journeys during the day and the early evening journeys. No late evening journeys or Sunday shuttle service will operate.
