Sidey and Robertson Construction Team Up to Support Perth Community

Sidey is proud to have partnered with Robertson Construction on a meaningful community project at Woodlea Cottage in Perth. Together, they have fully refurbished the outdoor playhouse, showcasing the power of collaboration for the benefit of the local community. This project united subcontractors, underscoring the positive impact of working together.

Woodlea Cottage is a vital care home service provided by Perth and Kinross Council, offering respite and short breaks for up to five children aged 7 to 18 with severe, complex, and enduring needs due to learning and physical disabilities. The children can stay for up to 28 consecutive days, making this refurbishment project especially meaningful.

As part of the initiative, a work experience placement was arranged for Perth High School pupil Jamie Anderson, who participated in the community benefit project at Woodlea Cottage. The placement involved assisting in the removal of old windows and doors and installing new ones in the playhouse on site. The student shadowed two Sidey apprentice installers, Billy Bagnall & Ed Nelson and gained hands-on experience using hand tools, manual handling, and general labour under expert supervision of Kenny Milne, Joinery Manager at Sidey.

In addition to this, Sidey attended Perth High School's Construction Careers Event. Organised by Depute Head Heather McMahon, the event offered students valuable insights into construction careers. Sidey not only participated but also interviewed candidates for work experience opportunities.

This collaboration highlights the dedication of Robertson Construction and Sidey to supporting local communities, nurturing young talent, and building strong partnerships across the construction industry.
