Business Shining Stars Selected in Awards Shortlist

The shortlisted entrants for Perthshire’s most prestigious business awards will now be asked to “play their aces” as judges begin the task of visiting and interviewing this year’s finalists.

Celebrating all aspects of the local business world, the area’s premier Awards will highlight the real “stars” across a range of sectors and those on the shortlist include new businesses on the scene as well as well-established staples.

Perthshire Chamber of Commerce also recognises the value of talent and individuals who have proved outstanding in their particular roles will have a chance to shine in categories including the apprentice and employee of the year.

Perthshire Chamber chief executive Vicki Unite said:

“The number of entries received was staggering.  We thank each and every one of those who applied, and I can only say I am glad I am not part of the judging process – it’s not an easy job!  It is always an absolute privilege to be able to shine the spotlight on some of our area’s success stories and acknowledge the sheer hard work, grit and determination being demonstrated on a day-to-day basis.”

“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Binn Group again as our Main Sponsor and are a shining example of supporting local and driving business locally, showing constant innovation and staying at the forefront of their industry - really putting Perthshire on the map.”

Allan MacGregor, Chief Executive of family business Binn Group, always champions local (and also includes this call to action to others during his annual speech at the awards dinner) and acknowledges the importance of this unique event in recognising and rewarding Perthshire successes.

“I like to keep business local, as far as possible,” he said, “and I think the Chamber is an important asset to the local economy.

“The Chamber’s priority is Perthshire, and the organisation is a vast and valuable network of business people who share that same passion.

“Supporting local has always been at the heart of the Binn Group and that is why we are involved with the Perthshire Chamber.”

Binn Group is Scotland’s leading recycling and resource management company.

Of course, this year’s event has been given a boost with the generous gifted membership of a £10k airtime package on STV courtesy of the STV Growth Fund to be awarded at this year’s event to the Perthshire Business of the Year 2023.

Vicki said: “We are absolutely delighted to have this generous gift from STV through their STV Growth Fund and to offer this additional opportunity to showcase and promote our overall winner is really exciting and I cannot wait to see who the lucky recipient will be.”

Danielle Kelly, Director of Strategy and Sales (Scotland) at STV, said: “We're thrilled to partner with the Perthshire Chamber for their Business Star Awards. Supporting the business community is more vital than ever and teaming up with the Chamber provides us with a wonderful opportunity to connect and engage with businesses throughout Perthshire at this event.”

The Chamber’s Annual Dinner and Business Star Awards is one of the most eagerly anticipated occasions on the business calendar and takes place at Crieff Hydro on Friday November 24th with businesses throughout the area having entered a record number of submissions.

The judges have had the unenviable task of whittling the galaxy of quality entries down to a sparkling shortlist to go through to the next stage of face to face judging, with those on the list being now in with the chance of scooping a Star Award title and also this wonderful prize as Perthshire Business of the Year.

As usual, entrants this year include regular Star Awards supporters as well as new faces, with large, established and renowned organisations sharing the shortlisted slots with sole and micro operations.

Now, Chamber directors, sponsors and experts from the business world will help unearth the shiniest Stars in one of the country’s most robust judging procedures in the run-up to a glittering showdown at a black-tie dinner at Crieff Hydro on Friday, November 24.

Ticket bookings are open and as well as attracting those involved in the Awards in some way, the event draws in attendees from businesses who are simply keen to enjoy and share a great night out as the category winners are revealed and the area’s business community is celebrated.

Also unveiled on the night will be the Business Leader Award sponsored by Thorntons with one company then scooping the Perthshire Business of the Year Award 2023.

This annual celebration of the best in the business world always proves a spectacular night out and tickets can be booked in advance by contacting the Chamber office on 01738 448325 or by email to events@perthshirechamber.co.uk or online at www.BusinessStarAwards.com.
