£1m boost for Blairgowrie bus fleet

Bus users in the Blairgowrie area are getting a festive boost as Stagecoach launches 4 brand new double deck buses into its fleet.

The four new buses have joined the fleet this week, following an investment from the bus company of around £1m into public transport in the region.

The Volvo E400 buses feature the latest technology on board for drivers and passengers – including automatic low bridge alerts, comfortable leather seating and USB phone charging points at every seat.

The vehicles will operate on route 57 – a popular service operating up to every 30 minutes Monday to Friday, and hourly at the weekend, between Perth, Burrelton, Coupar Angus, Blairgowrie, Alyth, Meigle, Newtyle and Dundee.

Route 57 connects people in the Blairgowrie area with employment opportunities in Perth and Dundee, as well as bringing visitors to the town and surrounding areas, providing a crucial link for business and leisure travel in the region.

David Frenz, Operations Director, Stagecoach East Scotland said: “It’s fantastic to bring this investment to the Blairgowrie area, improving the fleet standard in the region.  Staff at our Blairgowrie depot take such a pride in their buses and giving them this gift, ahead of the festive season is a real boost for the depot and for the thousands of customers who choose to travel with Stagecoach in this area.”

The new buses from Stagecoach have arrived just in time for those aiming to shop local this Christmas, with so many local manufacturers, suppliers and excellent eateries in the region, it’s never been easier to pick up what you need within your local community.
