A message from Kylie Fagan.
Hello Comrie and District Community,
I’m getting in touch to let you know about the launch of the new consultation to develop a Comrie and District Community Action Plan. The Plan is being led by a voluntary Steering Group of local people from a range of local groups, businesses and organisations. My colleagues and I here at Community Enterprise, an independent social enterprise with expertise in community planning, are supporting local people in this process. The consultation will be taking place over the next few months, with the final Plan launched in Spring 2025.
This Action Plan will set out the long-term vision that the community wants to achieve over the next five years - and beyond! It is important for everyone – local residents, voluntary groups, young people, businesses - to share their ideas about what will make a difference to them, their family, and neighbours. The issues, ideas, and aspirations generated through the process will be put together into a plan identifying priorities and projects, as well as how people can work together to make them happen.
Other areas that have undertaken Community Action Plans have gone on to develop or advocate for key local projects such as improved community spaces, youth services, and upgraded transport links (amongst many other examples). In order for the Plan to reflect the key priorities for your area, however, we need your involvement.
To explore what is important to the people of Comrie and District, there will be several ways that you can get involved:
· Community Launch Event – this Saturday morning (8th Feb)!
Come chat to the Steering Group and Community Enterprise at our drop-in event to hear more about the project, have a coffee and morning roll, and share your views.
· The White Church
Saturday 8th Feb
10am – 12pm (a drop-in event but a short presentation will be held at 10.30am)
· Community Survey - A community survey has just been launched, that you can access online via this link: bit.ly/ComrieCAP. We are also distributing paper copies throughout the community. Completed surveys can be dropped off at the collection boxes at The White Church, The Handy Shop or Hansen’s Kitchen.
· The Community Enterprise team are also hoping to come along to some community group meet-ups, speak to local businesses, chat to the local Primary School, and meet people 1-1 as well. If you’d like to take part, then please do get in touch!
How you can help
To make sure that our consultation reaches as many as possible, we need the community to help spread the word and help promote the survey and event.
· Flyer - We’ve attached a poster / flyer to this email. It would be great if you can help make this visible – both online and out in the community.
· Survey – Please let people know that the survey is now open and share the link above. We’ve also attached a pdf of the paper copy. Feel free to print some off to share with your family, friends, neighbours, or community groups (see above for drop-off locations).
If you have any questions about the project, please get in touch with the project lead Douglas Westwater via douglas@communityenterprise.co.uk.
Kind regards,
Kylie Fagan
