UHI Perth proudly hosted the prestigious Andrew Fairlie Scholarship Final on Tuesday 25th November, delivered by the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland. The event brought together five of Scotland’s most talented aspiring chefs, who competed in the college’s main training kitchens in a high-pressure culinary cook-off. Finalists recreated their original application dishes alongside a surprise pheasant challenge, showcasing exceptional creativity, technical skill, and professionalism.
UHI Perth students played an integral role throughout the day, supporting finalists in the kitchen and assisting HIT Scotland and the judging panel with front-of-house service and hospitality. Following the competition, students, staff, finalists, and judges attended a special reception at Gleneagles, where the Andrew Fairlie Scholarship 2025 winner was announced.
Ype van der Schaaf, Sector Manager of Hospitality and Food Studies, said hosting the event provided invaluable experience for students and highlighted the pride in showcasing Scotland’s next generation of culinary talent.
