Platinum Partner SSEN Transmission offers £5.5m worth of maintenance contracts for local businesses


SSEN Transmission is offering up to £5.5m worth of contracts over five years for small businesses in the north of Scotland, providing a major boost to local contractors.  

The contracts for maintenance work across 180 sites include substation sites and other transmission infrastructure that form part of the company’s investment to upgrade the electricity grid across the north of Scotland.  

Local contractors in the Highlands and Islands, Moray, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Perth and Kinross and Dundee are invited to apply to tender for the work via SSEN Transmission’s Minor Maintenance Framework, by the closing date of 29 October 2025.  

Contracts cover work in a variety of key areas*, including general building work, minor civils work, roofing, plumbing, painting, fencing, and metal and fabrication works.  

Stuart Knight, Head of Operations from SSEN Transmission, said: “Our upgrades to the electricity transmission network are creating huge economic opportunities in communities across Scotland, from large companies to smaller local contractors whose skills and experience are required to deliver this vital work.  

“As part of this we are pleased to offer up to £5.5m worth of maintenance contracts over five years to local businesses with expertise that is essential to the maintenance and repair of our sites across the north of Scotland.  

“This work covers a variety of areas traditionally delivered by smaller contractors, underlining the benefits of our ongoing operations in promoting economic activity in local communities where our infrastructure is based. 

“Contracts will be delivered through our Minor Maintenance Framework, and we encourage any small businesses interested in delivering this work to note their interest by the closing date of 29th October 2025.”
