Morrison’s Academy has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2025, organised by Independent School Parent. This recognition celebrates the dedication and teamwork of its school community - from staff and pupils to parents and partners - who join together to create an environment where young people flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
Andrew McGarva, Rector of Morrison’s Academy, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be named finalists in the Northern region category of the awards. It’s a reflection of the passion and commitment of everyone in our school community. This recognition celebrates the hard work that goes into providing an inspiring and supportive environment for our pupils and we couldn’t be prouder to be acknowledged alongside some of the UK’s leading independent schools.”
The Independent Schools of the Year Awards highlight the benefits of independent education and the innovative, caring and life-enhancing experiences offered to pupils. The awards will be chaired once again by Dr Helen Wright, international Education Adviser and past Vice Chair of the ISC, supported by a panel of judges which includes leading Head Teachers and representatives of the professional associations.
Dr Helen Wright added: “I am delighted that for 2025 we are launching our UK-wide regional awards. I hope that these new awards will help us celebrate the diversity and highly individual characters of our independent schools, so often reflecting and enhanced by their location within our islands.
“I hope that the awards will provide our sector with an opportunity to showcase the extraordinary student experience our pupils receive and demonstrate beyond doubt to those who question our relevance that the sector is worthy of recognition and should be cherished and supported.”
Morrison’s Academy extends its warm congratulations to all the other finalists and looks forward to the awards ceremony where the winners will be announced in October.
