Scottish Government Daily Update Wednesday 3rd February 2021

This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website continues to provide details on the assistance available as well as information and advice on how businesses can restart safely through and out of lockdown.

The UK has now left the European Union, this update will highlight developments around Brexit that will be of particular interest to businesses.

Today at First Minister’s Questions the First Minister gave an update on COVID-19 statistics, including figures on vaccinations. Read the full statement here.

Finance Secretary Kate Forbes has urged businesses eligible for a top-up grant from the Strategic Framework Business Fund to apply to their local authority by the final deadline of Friday 5 February. Full information on eligibility and how to apply is available online.

A new £7.75 million funding package will offer support to fishermen, seafood businesses and ports and harbours threatened by the ongoing effects of COVID-19 and EU Exit.

Europe and External Affairs Secretary Michael Russell has also pledged the Scottish Government will continue to do all it can to mitigate the impact of Brexit – including backing a call from the food and drink industry for a six month grace period to allow companies more time to cope with the changes.
