Scottish Government Daily Update Thursday 4th February 2021

This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website continues to provide details on the assistance available as well as information and advice on how businesses can restart safely through and out of lockdown.

The UK has now left the European Union, this update will highlight developments around Brexit that will be of particular interest to businesses.

At today’s media briefing the First Minister highlighted that the deadline for businesses to apply for top up grants from the Strategic Framework Businesses Fund is tomorrow (Friday). Read the full statement here.

The Find Business Support website has information on all the support available to businesses that have been affected by COVID-19 restrictions. We would encourage businesses to check the website for more information on what support they are eligible for and how they can apply.

The website has recently completed a programme of improvement to streamline information and make it easier for users to find information on funding. We will continue to monitor and improve the site as we carry out further testing and receive more feedback from stakeholders. We would also encourage businesses to sign up to the mailing list on the website to receive new information on business support when it is published. 

The Scottish Government’s £33 billion Infrastructure Investment Plan has been published alongside the Capital Spending Review confirming a five year plan of significant capital investment in healthcare, education, transport and the environment covering 2021-22 to 2025-26. Read more here.

The Scottish Government is making a significant financial commitment to help reintroduce flights at Wick Airport. Up to £4 million will be made available to the Highland Council over the next four financial years to bring back services to and from the airport.
