Scottish Government Daily Update Thursday 19th November 2020

This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website continues to provide details on the assistance available as well as information and advice on how businesses can restart safely through and out of lockdown.

At today’s First Minister’s Questions the First Minister gave an update on coronavirus (COVID-19) numbers, you can read her full statement here.

The Health Secretary has given a statement to parliament on plans for a COVID-19 vaccination programme.  The first vaccinations could be given to health and social care staff, older care home residents and those over 80 years old who live in the community from as early as December 2020. Once the initial priority groups have been vaccinated, those over 65 will be offered the vaccination along with those under 65 who are at additional clinical risk, before moving on to the wider population over the age of 18. 

The Scottish Tourism Emergency Response Group (STERG) is monitoring the effects of COVID-19 on the industry and what support is needed via an online survey. The survey is available here.

Companies House has urged businesses not to leave filing their annual accounts until the last minute and to consider going paperless due to disruption caused by COVID-19. More information is available here.

The Scottish Government’s Strategic Framework is now operational, you can find out exactly which coronavirus lockdown restrictions apply to you by using the Scottish Government's postcode checker.

Safer workplace guidance is released on a sectoral basis and can be found here.  

Grants are available for businesses that are required by law to close or to significantly change operations as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Find out who is eligible and how to apply here.
