Scottish Government Daily Update Monday 15th February 2021

This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website has information on all the support available to businesses that have been affected by COVID-19 restrictions. We would encourage businesses to check the website for more information on what support they are eligible for and how they can apply.

The UK has now left the European Union, this update will highlight developments around Brexit that will be of particular interest to businesses.

At today’s media briefing the First Minister said that from today onwards, everyone who arrives directly in Scotland by air from outside the Common Travel Area (the CTA, comprising United Kingdom, Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands) will be required to stay in a specially assigned hotel for a 10 day period of managed isolation. During their stay they will be tested for COVID-19 on day two and on day eight after their arrival.

The First Minister also reported 1,255,190 people had received their first dose of the vaccine as of 8.30am today and confirmed the Scottish Government had met its target to offer vaccines to everyone over 70 and everyone who has an extreme, clinical vulnerability.

Young people, those made redundant and people who have been unemployed for a long time will be able to access an additional £125 million support from the Scottish Government. Announced in the latest Budget, the funding will help people impacted by COVID-19 pandemic access employment opportunities. Read more here.

Guidance on how to apply for a grant to maintain your conservation project if you are a zoo or aquarium affected by COVID-19 has been published. Zoos or aquariums in Scotland experiencing financial hardship which is affecting conservation projects may be able to apply for a grant of up to £400,000 per project to continue them.

The Scottish Government’s Strategic Framework is now operational, you can find out exactly which coronavirus lockdown restrictions apply to you by using the Scottish Government's postcode checker.
