Scottish Government Daily Update Monday 11th January 2021

This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website continues to provide details on the assistance available as well as information and advice on how businesses can restart safely through and out of lockdown.

The UK has now left the European Union, this update will highlight developments around Brexit that will be of particular interest to businesses.

At today’s media briefing the First Minister confirmed anyone arriving in Scotland having been in Dubai must now quarantine for 10 days following a rise in positive cases amongst people returning.

In addition, passengers who have travelled to Scotland from Dubai since 3 January are also being asked to isolate for 10 days from the date they arrived back in the country.

The First Minister also gave an update on the COVID-19 vaccination roll out with 163,377 people having received their first dose of either the Pfizer or the AstraZeneca vaccine as of yesterday.

A significant top-up to the grant support available for hospitality, retail and leisure businesses across Scotland closed by level 4 restrictions has been announced by Finance Secretary Kate Forbes.

One million pounds is now available to encourage innovation in public transport technology solutions through the Mobility as a Service Investment Fund which supports Scotland’s green recovery from COVID-19 and aims to make public transport easier while encouraging people away from single-occupancy car trips. Under the current restrictions the manufacturing sector can continue to operate in Scotland. A Twitter thread outlining a number of steps manufacturers should take to restrict the spread of the virus and ensure the safety of employees has been published.
