Scottish Government Daily Update Friday 5th January 2021

This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website has information on all the support available to businesses that have been affected by COVID-19 restrictions. We would encourage businesses to check the website for more information on what support they are eligible for and how they can apply.

The UK has now left the European Union, this update will highlight developments around Brexit that will be of particular interest to businesses.

At today’s media briefing the Deputy First Minister gave an update on COVID-19 statistics, including figures on vaccinations. Read the full statement here.

Applications are now open for a new £6.45 million funding scheme for fishers and small aquaculture businesses impacted by COVID-19 and EU Exit. The Seafood Producers Resilience Fund will provide support to eligible shellfish catchers and producers and trout farmers who have faced issues exporting to the EU and lost access to domestic food markets as a result of COVID-19.  Read more here for information on eligibility and separate applications for aquaculture and fishing vessels.

Plans to ensure all buildings in Scotland are warmer, more efficient and reach zero emissions by 2045 have been published. Energy Minister Paul Wheelhouse has launched a consultation on the proposals. The consultation is open until 30 April 2021.
