Scottish Government Daily Update - Friday 11th December 2020

This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website continues to provide details on the assistance available as well as information and advice on how businesses can restart safely through and out of lockdown.

At today’s media briefing the First Minister said people living in the eleven local authority areas which have been in level 4 of the Strategic Framework and move down to level 3 at 6pm today, should consider whether they can wait a day or two to go to retail premises – which were able to open at 6am – to allow the flow of people to be managed.

The First Minister also reminded people living in other parts of the country that they should not be travelling into higher level areas for non-essential shopping.

In addition, following consideration of the latest scientific evidence, the UK’s four Chief Medical Officers have advised that the self-isolation period can be reduced to 10 days from next Monday 14 December. From that date, anyone who is told to self-isolate should do so for a period of 10 days, not 14. People who are already self-isolating can stop once they reach the ten day point.

A Seasonal Sector Advice Card providing additional information on infection prevention and control measures to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in the workplace over the festive season has been published. The card includes guidance on festive parties, sharing presents and food, travel to work and enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures. The card is designed to be followed with the wider general guidance for safer workplaces.

From this Saturday, hospitality venues across Scotland will be able to play low level background sound again, including music and other audio. Guidance has been published to ensure all background sound is played at the appropriate volume.

Transport Secretary Michael Matheson has stressed the importance of checking travel regulations and booking in advance for any travel over the festive period. People are being encouraged to carefully consider their need to travel over the festive period and if they do decide to travel, to book in advance.

The Scottish Government’s Strategic Framework is now operational, you can find out exactly which coronavirus lockdown restrictions apply to you by using the Scottish Government's postcode checker.

Safer workplace guidance is released on a sectoral basis and can be found here.

Grants are available for businesses that are required by law to close or to significantly change operations as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. Find out who is eligible and how to apply here.

The NHS Inform coronavirus webpage is the fastest way for people to get the latest health advice and information.

We hope that you will find this useful and share with your networks where appropriate.
