This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website continues to provide details on the assistance available as well as information and advice on how businesses can restart safely through and out of lockdown.

As we approach the end of the Brexit transition period we will also be highlighting developments around Brexit that will be of particular interest to businesses.

At today’s media briefing the First Minister reiterated the new COVID-19 guidelines that have been put in place over the festive season in Scotland

She also said that the Scottish Government was working with the UK Government to try to mitigate the impact of the French ban on accompanied freight which has implications for Scottish businesses, particularly the seafood sector.  A Scottish Government resilience meeting is also being held to discuss the situation.

Tourism and hospitality businesses across Scotland are to benefit from a £104.3 million package of support in the New Year.

The funding is part of the short term response to the Scottish Tourism Recovery Taskforce recommendations and follows lengthy discussions with industry to target support specifically where it is needed the most. 

The hydrogen sector is to receive £100 million over the next five years to support a green recovery and Scotland’s just transition to net zero.  The announcement marks the publication of the Scottish Government Hydrogen Policy Statement.  You can read the full statement here.

More than £11 million has been awarded in capital grants to 12 projects that will create jobs and benefit communities along the River Clyde. This is part of the economic stimulus funding to support economic recovery from the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Further details are available here.
