Gov. Scot: Economy COVID-19 Communications Update - Wednesday 4th November 2020

This update from the Scottish Government directs businesses to the most up to date information on COVID-19 as we move forward with our economic response.

The Find Business Support website continues to provide details on the assistance available as well as information and advice on how businesses can restart safely through and out of lockdown.

At today’s media briefing the First Minister announced that grants and investment funding of almost £25 million has been committed to 90 innovative, early-stage businesses in Scotland whose growth ambitions were impacted by the onset of the covid-19 pandemic. The awards have been made via the Early Stage Growth Challenge Fund, part of a £38m package of early-stage support announced by the Scottish Government in July.

A new Women Returners Programme – backed by £500,000 and following on from a 2018-19 pilot scheme – will fund projects that help to address gender inequality in the workplace and build on the Scottish Government’s commitment to reduce the gender pay gap. A further £850,000 will be available through the Workplace Equality Fund to help organisations to develop more inclusive and diverse workplaces. Full details are available here.

More than £9 million UK Government funding has been announced to help green and pioneering Scottish businesses bounce back from the coronavirus pandemic. The £9.26m funding is part of a wider £134 million UK Government package enabling 1,069 ground-breaking clean growth projects develop new technologies, secure and create new jobs, drive productivity and tackle climate change.
