Gleneagles to Welcome Guests from 15 July, 2020

Britain’s Ultimate Summer Playground Reopens its Doors

Gleneagles, one of Scotland’s most iconic hotels and sporting estates, is delighted to announce that following a temporary closure due to the recent public health crisis, it will reopen its doors on 15 July, pending final guidance and advice from the Scottish government.

Conor O’Leary, Joint Managing Director, Gleneagles, said “We’re thrilled to have an opening date for Gleneagles in sight and look forward to bringing some joy to our guests after what has been a difficult few months for all of us. Whilst our priority must and always will be safety, and protecting the wellbeing of everyone at Gleneagles, neither of those important responsibilities takes away from our main commitment of providing guests with a sense of escape and adventure.”

For the duration of its closure, the hotel has been working around the clock to carefully review its entire operation to develop a meticulous new set of safety protocols. A number of adjustments have been made and measures put in place to provide the highest standards of safety at all times. From how the hotel team will interact with guests and colleagues, to checking in, moving around the hotel and servicing bedrooms, food preparation, and the seating plans in restaurants and bars - an enhanced set of hygiene and safety measures have been implemented across the estate to provide even greater peace of mind during guests’ time at the Glorious Playground. In addition, understanding that the situation is ever evolving, the hotel has introduced a flexible booking policy which will allow guests to rearrange their stay at short notice should the need arise.

Gleneagles’ speciality has always been in arranging bespoke experiences – whether guests are looking for an intimate dinner in their own private space, a beautiful family picnic by the side of Laich Loch, or a secluded countryside walk in the Scottish Highlands – the hotel’s 850 acres make for a plethora of adventures and activities for guests to enjoy in the open air. On 29 May, following the First Minister’s decision to ease restrictions on outdoor leisure, golfers were welcomed back to the hotel’s fairways once again.

The hotel will continue to follow the Scottish government’s advice and work with public health authorities on the phased exist from lockdown, and looks forward to welcoming back guests, old and new.

About Gleneagles

Since opening its doors in June 1924, Gleneagles has been one of Scotland’s most iconic hotels and sporting estates. Set beneath the Ochil Hills, in the heart of Perthshire, it has been the must-go destination for travellers for nearly a century. Beginning its life in the glamorous age of travel when guests arrived in great style at Gleneagles’ very own train station, the 850-acre estate epitomises the natural beauty for which Scotland is famed. With its glorious playground of country pursuits and activities, the hotel is reclaiming its position on the social calendar. Now under new owner Ennismore, Gleneagles has enlisted the skills and expertise of some of the UK’s most acclaimed designers including David Collins Studio, Timorous Beasties, Macaulay Sinclair, Goddard Littlefair and Ennismore’s own in-house design studio – with the aim to create designs and spaces that celebrate the rich, glamorous heritage and beautiful architecture for which the hotel is famed.
