Coronavirus (COVID-19): Test and Protect - transition plan
In recognition of the current state of the epidemic, the primary purpose of testing is evolving from population-wide testing to reduce transmission, to a targeted response focused on reducing severe impacts of the virus. Testing will still be required for other purposes – it will play an ongoing role in health and care workforces, given the clinical risk in those settings, and will be a key part of surveillance.
As announced by the First Minister in the revised Strategic Framework (February 2022), this transition plan has been published to set out updated Test & Protect plans for the endemic phase, and how we will manage the transition from the current position to the end steady state.
