UK Government: Businesses to save up to £300 million Annually thanks to Climate Change Agreement Scheme Extension, 16 April 2020

An extension to the Climate Change Agreement scheme will prevent an estimated 700,000 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted each year.

The UK Government launched a consultation on an extension to the Climate Change Agreement, which will set targets for reducing businesses' energy in return for discounts on the climate change levy on their energy bills.  This could secure up to £300 million of annual savings for companies.  The targets will be put in place from January 2021 and will extend the scheme beyond the current March 2023 deadline to March 2025.  The scheme will prevent around 700,00 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year, and the 2-year extension will give eligible companies extra financial support by guaranteeing savings worth up to £300 million a year until 2025.
