UK Government: Furlough scheme cut-off date extended to 19 March, 15 April 2020

placeholder

The Eligibility date has been extended to 19 March, so thousands more employees can benefit from the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, and should be rolled out in the next week.

To prevent fraudualant claims, the original scheme stated that employees had to be employed on 28 February 2020, but following a review, new guidance was published today that the scheme has been extended to 19 March 2020, and employers can claim for furloughed employees who were on their PAYE paroll on or before 19 March 2020.

The change makes the scheme more genrous and is expected to benefit over 200,00 employees.
